Group protests lack of LGBT civil rights protections

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — LGBT activists are calling for more support for a change to the Indiana civil rights law.

Supporters are using the slogan “four words and a comma.”

The phrase refers to their push to add “sexual orientation, gender identity” to the laws.

Supporters held a rally at the statehouse Saturday afternoon.

They also protested Gov. Pence’s recent comments questioning if civil rights protections are necessary for the LGBT community.

Activists say many state officials are out of touch with Hoosiers.

Those who spoke at the rally encouraged people to register to vote.
