Pearl Jam, Detroit Lions, Cher send help to Flint

FLINT, MI (WLNS) – Help has been flowing into Flint for weeks. Now 90’s rock band Pearl Jam announced that they have pledged $300,000 to support the residents there and that number is still growing.

On Facebook the band said the donations will be made to the United Way of Genesee County.

Also joining the cause are the Detroit Lions.

Star defensive end Ziggy Ansah alongside several teammates were in Flint Friday donating 94,000 bottles of water.

By coincidence or not Ansah wears number 94 on football Sundays.

On the talk show ‘The View’ earlier Friday the panel of hosts welcomed Flint Mayor Karen Weaver and Grammy-winning artist Cher as guests.

Cher has been very vocal about the crisis in Flint on social media outlets and has already donated 200,000 bottles of water to Flint.

On the show Cher compared Michigan to a dictatorship, saying the state can appoint emergency managers with power to make authoritative decisions in cities.
