Man charged after police find explicit photos, videos on phone

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WISH) – A cellphone containing sexually explicit photos and videos led police to arrest a Bloomington man for his involvement.

A warrant was issued for Robert Evan Childers, 27, after police say they found several images of pornography on his cellphone in early January.

According to court records, Childers’ ex girlfriend found several disturbing photos and videos on his phone on Dec. 29. She told police that she knew the victim in one of the videos and told her about the videos.

The victim said that on Nov. 26, she was with Childers. Court records state that the two were drinking heavily and the victim didn’t remember how she got to the couch. She assumed she passed out on the couch and was not aware of anything happening between her and Childers.

The victim said that Childers came to her and asked her to tell his attorney that she was aware of the videos and photos on his phone, the court records state.

Police collected evidence from the victim’s home and were able to match items in the video. At this time police obtained a search warrant for Childers arrest. Childers was arrested on Jan. 22 and released on bond.

Childers will appear in court on Jan. 29 for his initial hearing at 1:30 p.m. He is charged with one count of rape.
