Students launch weather balloon to survey pressure, altitude

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – There’s a new weather tool in the air.

Students at Cumberland Road Elementary in Fishers launched a weather balloon Tuesday morning. Students sent a one pound balloon around 7 a.m. – up 100,000 feet.

John Murch, a teacher at the school said they partnered with Strato-Star.

“Their graphing the data, pressure (and) altitude. They want to see how balloons react under different changes and pressure,” said Murch.

Murch said he hopes to get the results back by the end of the day Tuesday.
