LPD makes arrest in tire slashing investigation

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Lafayette police arrested a 16-year-old male Tuesday in connection with a series of tire slashings reported earlier in January.

The juvenile was arrested for criminal mischief and released to the custody of Tippecanoe County Juvenile Probation. His name is being withheld due to his age.

While a complete count of damaged vehicles is still being assessed, the Lafayette Police Department has received 51 reports of slashed tires to date. It’s unclear how many incidents will be attributed to the juvenile.

These cases are still under investigation, and police said more arrests could follow.

If anybody has any information regarding slashed tires, please contact Det. Bragg McDole at 765-807-1264 or use the WeTip Hotline at 800-78-CRIME.
