Six evacuated from west side apartment fire

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) –  Wayne Township Fire Department firefighters were called to an apartment fire early Wednesday morning.

Officials say they were called to the Cambridge Station Apartments around 2:45 a.m. When they arrived smoke was showing from a third floor apartment.

Once inside firefighters found heavy fire coming from one apartment. Six people had to be evacuated and four people were checked by medics at the scene.

Firefighters had the fire out in about 15 minutes.

Investigators were working to determine the cause of the fire. They say they are also looking into a complaint for a domestic disturbance near by to see if they were related.

Officials estimate damage to be around $30,000.
