Facebook launching upgraded ‘like’ button with reaction emojis

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Facebook has heard your cries for more than just a “like” button. Soon users will be able to choose from other options besides the “like” button on a friend’s Facebook post.

Five new emoticons are coming to the social network, according to CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

In October, Facebook revealed what the new “like” button would look like. They were testing a few new reactions, including Love, Haha, Yay, Wow, Sad and Angry.

According to TIME, the “yay” button was cut because developers say that it was not universally known.

The new reactions will be animated buttons to help display the meanings.

The “reactions” are expected to appear across both mobile and desktop version of the app and on posts in New Feeds, whether from friends, pages or advertisers.

Besides the fact that users wanted more options and emotions other than just a “like” to show how they feel about a post, there was also the issue of mobile devices, where users may not want to tap a response.

Zuckerberg did not give an exact timetable on when the emoticons will launch, only saying it will be “pretty soon”.
