Castroneves receives piece of IMS fence

SPEEDWAY, Ind. (WISH) — Three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves now owns a piece of racing history.

Castroneves’ signature move is to climb the fence after winning the iconic race.

On Tuesday, Indianapolis Motor Speedway President Doug Boles presented the driver with pictures of his climb along with a piece of the fence.

Castroneves was surprised by the gifts.

“What a special gift,” he said. “This is where everything started for me. Indianapolis is becoming a close place in my heart.”

Sections of the fence were replaced during renovations for the 100th running of the race.
