Firefighters battle fire inside Muncie Street Dept. building

MUNCIE, Ind. (WISH) – No one was reported to be injured in a fire at the Muncie Street Department building Tuesday morning.

Dispatchers for Muncie and Delaware County confirmed that firefighters were on scene shortly before 10 a.m. working on the fire.

The building is located in the 5700 block of West Kilgore Avenue. Officials on scene said a brand new dump truck inside somehow caught fire. It wasn’t being charged, so right now it’s unclear how the fire started.

The building’s sprinkler system was activated and prevented major damage to the building.

Officials said they were concerned about chemicals and hazardous materials inside.
