Police ask for help to find suspect, solve murder

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Police are asking for help to find a man who they said shot and killed a man right in front of the victim’s mother.

Police said 29-year-old Robert Lasley is a known criminal and that he has been convicted of violent crimes in the past.

Betty Killebrew’s 30-year old-son Michael, was shot and killed right in front of her.

The scene still plays out over and over in her mind.

“I saw the flashes from the gun, and I heard the shots and I saw Michael fall to the ground,” Killebrew said.

It happened in December 2015. Michael was taken to the hospital and at one point it looked like he would live.

But weeks later his wounds were too extensive, and on Jan. 5 Michael lost his battle.

“You know, I often told him that I loved him. Often,” Betty quipped. “And I miss him very much, he didn’t deserve what happened to him. He didn’t deserve it at all.”

Betty said she’s not sure why her son was killed. Michael was one of five children. He was a father to a little girl and worked several jobs.

“He was a good dad, he loved his daughter, his daughter loved him. He was a good son, he always came back to see us. Out of all the kids he was the only one that was here all the time,” Killebrew said.

Police are asking for your help with this case. If you know where Robert Lasley is call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.
