Two dead in 2-vehicle crash in northeastern Indiana

ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) A crash at the Allen-Whitley county line on Wednesday killed two people and injured another. A 43-year-old woman and an 84-year-old man from Columbia City died in the crash.

Police and medics were called around 2:15 p.m. to the intersection of West Washington Center Road and West County Line Road on a report of a crash there.

Police say that a truck and a car collided. Both vehicles went off the roadway. The car could be seen settled in a heavily wooded area off the road.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2003 GMC pickup driven by Lanaya C. Collier, 43, of Columbia City was headed southbound on Whitley County Road 800 E. Police said they believe Collier pulled into the intersection and struck a 2006 Chevrolet car driven by Marilyn J Fry, 85, of Columbia City.

Collier was ejected from her vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Fry and her passenger, Roger F. Fry, 84 were trapped in their vehicle and had to be extricated by fire personnel. Marilyn Fry was transported to Parkview Regional Medical Center. Her condition is unknown. Roger Fry was flown from the scene and later died at the hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.
