Columbus Zoo reveals name for polar bear cub
COLUMBUS (WCMH)-The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium has announced that “Nora” was the winning name for the new Polar bear cub.
Nora, is a blend of her parents’ names (Nanuq and Aurora).
She was born on Nov. 6. Her twin died shortly after birth. She has been hand-reared since her mother began neglecting her.
The Zoo says she receives around-the-clock care and is fed every four hours.
The other names that were being considered for Nora:
- Desna, an Inuit name meaning “boss”
- Kaya, a native American name meaning “little but wise”
- Sakari, an Inuit name meaning “sweet”
