Officers find heroin after man gets off Megabus

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Indiana State Police say a passenger on a Megabus was arrested in downtown Indianapolis Friday morning.

It happened around 4:30 a.m. at the Megabus drop off at Market and Alabama streets.

Narcotics investigators saw a man get into a car after getting off the bus. Officers stopped that vehicle after they noticed a traffic violation. That’s when they say the passenger – the same man who got off the bus – ran.

He was apprehended by a state police K-9 and troopers near Washington Street and Park Avenue. Officers say they found approximately 5.5 ounces of heroin, which has a street value of approximately $20,000.

The driver was issued a traffic citation for driving while suspended and released. The man who police caught identified himself as 21-year-old Laquan Nash of Chicago.

Nash was treated for his injuries. Officers say they aren’t certain he gave his correct name. They’re working to confirm his identity.

In the meantime, he’s facing preliminary charges of dealing heroin and resisting law enforcement/ striking a law enforcement animal.
