Police: Gas stations found selling knockoff clothes, DVDs

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Excise officers served search warrants at 13 Fort Wayne businesses and seized thousands of counterfeit items on Thursday.

Indiana State Excise Police officers started serving the warrants around 11:30 a.m. and completed their task around 7:30 p.m.

Investigators seized purses, jackets, wallets, belts, hats, shirts and pants. Authorities said they were imitations of name brand merchandise including, Nike/Air Jordan, Louis Vuitton, Michael Kors, Gucci, NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB, North Face, Coach, Hello Kitty, Polo, and Otterbox.

Officers also collected more than 20,000 unlicensed DVDs and equipment that is believed to be used to make them. Some of the moves are still in theaters and have not been released to DVD.

Excise officers served warrants to the following locations:

  1. Shell/Get 2 Go located at 4935 Bluffton Rd.
  2. BP Gas Station located at 1923 Broadway
  3. Shell Gas Station located at 437 W. Jefferson Blvd.
  4. Hair Plus located at 3822 Lafayette (Lafayette Plaza)
  5. King City Fashions located at 1108 E. Pontiac (Pontiac Mall)
  6. Marathon/Get 2 Go located at 3505 Wayne Trace
  7. Shell Station/Hessen Cassel Express located at 4181 Hessen Cassel Rd.
  8. Empire Clothing located at 4353 S. Anthony
  9. BP Gas Station located at 7418 S. Anthony
  10. AK Mobile located at 7508 S. Anthony
  11. Phort Knox Clothing located at 5023 Decatur Rd.
  12. Marathon Gas Station located at 1130 Goshen Rd.
  13. Marathon/Get 2 Go located at 422 Spring St.

Police arrested one person after he reportedly became combative with officers and was found to be in possession of Oxycontin. Maung Zwa, 39, of Fort Wayne was arrested at the BP Gas Station on S. Anthony Boulevard. He was booked in the Allen County Jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance and resisting law enforcement.

No other arrests were made. Authorities said the counterfeit merchandise investigation is ongoing and the case will be forwarded to the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office once it’s completed.
