Pregnant woman and boyfriend face meth, neglect of a dependent charges

NEW CASTLE, Ind. (WISH) — A woman who is five months pregnant and her boyfriend face felony charges for meth possession and neglect of a dependent.

Hannah Heinrich, 24, and Jonathan Murphy, also 24, were arrested Tuesday in New Castle.

Indiana State Police troopers from the Meth Suppression Team, New Castle Police Department and the Department of Child Services went to the home in the 100 block of N. 24th Street Tuesday afternoon. An anonymous tip regarding drug use led investigators to the property.

The five-months-pregnant Heinrich was arrested for possession of meth and neglect of a dependent, both level six felonies. She also faces misdemeanor charges for possession of paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.

Murphy arrived at the house while officers were speaking with Heinrich. He faces all of the same charges, as well as driving while suspended.

DCS removed two young children from the home during the investigation.

Heinrich and Murphy were transported to the Henry County Jail.
