Man pleads guilty in 2014 Bloomington rape case

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WISH) — An Indianapolis man has pleaded guilty in case where he was charged with burglary, armed robbery, attempted murder and multiple counts of rape.

20-year-old Michael Deweese was charged following the Nov. 2014 incident. On Wednesday, he pleaded guilty to 14 of the 15 felony charges against him.

According to court documents, Deweese and Vaylen Glazebrook, also of Indianapolis, broke into an apartment near Indiana University and raped two women.

Police arrived at the apartment in the 500 block of E. 12th Street and two shots were heard as the men fled. An officer then saw a muzzle flash as a shot was fired at him. He returned fire.

Both Deweese and Glazebrook were struck by shots. No officers were injured.

Police identified Jesse Benti-Torres as they getaway driver.

Items belonging to the victims, including a cell phone, were located with Glazebrook.

Deweese will be sentenced on April 19.

Glazebrook is due in court for a pretrial conference on March 31.
