New Castle man takes police on brief pursuit

NEW CASTLE, (WISH) – A pursuit through New Castle on Thursday afternoon led to the arrest of a man who was driving on a suspended license and driving while under the influence.

Around 1 p.m. a Pendleton Trooper attempted to pull over an impaired driver who was traveling south on State Road 3. The vehicle looked like it was going to stop for the officer, but the driver then fled.

The driver continued to travel west out of New Castle. Police say during the chase he drove through yards and farm fields. Police from Henry County and the Shirley Police Department also joined in the pursuit.

The driver, 24-year-old Seth Waters, bailed out of the car in a filed near County Road 275 West and Greensboro Pike.

Police arrested Waters on preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement, fleeing, criminal recklessness, OWI controlled substance with endangerment and driving while suspended.

Waters was transported to the Henry County Jail.
