Purdue’s athletic director Morgan Burke to retire in 2017

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WISH) – Purdue University Athletic Director Morgan Burke has announced his retirement.

Burke will step down in July 2017. Burke became the athletic director at Purdue in 1993.

“Because of the complexity of the job and Morgan’s historic record in Purdue Athletics, finding a successor will be no small task,” said Chairman of the Purdue Board of Trustees and former Purdue football player Michael Berghoff.

Burke told university leaders about his plans more than a year ago, but informed alumni at an annual event in Florida on Thursday.
