Arrest made in October east side homicide

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A suspect has been arrested for the Oct. 18 murder of Gregory Watkins, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

On Friday, 39-year-old Ronnie Massengale was arrested on preliminary charges of murder.

According to IMPD, Watkins was found dead on a front porch of home in the 4800 block of East 18th Street around 11:30 a.m. Police say he suffered from a gunshot wound.

Police say they were called to the area around 2 a.m. Sunday but were unable to find anyone at that time.

After an investigation police were led to Massengale as a suspect. He was arrested on the east side. Police say when they arrested Massengale they found another person with him who was wanted on a robbery warrant. Police say they also found a stolen car at the home.
