Former candidate found not guilty in 2014 stalking case

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A man accused of stalking a fellow candidate during a 2014 campaign has been found not guilty.

John Couch was accused of stalking Rep. Karlee Macer after he became a candidate to run against her in 2014.

Couch was found not guilty of stalking, forgery and resisting law enforcement on Friday morning. Charges of perjury and forgery were dropped in January.

He was charged and jailed in the weeks before the election and was still on the ballot in Nov. 2014.

Macer won re-election in the District 92 race. Couch, an independent candidate, received 299 votes.
