Furry friends flock to Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Dog lovers unite! It was a dog lover’s dream at the Indiana State Fairgrounds this weekend.

The Indy Winter Classic dog show continued Saturday.

The annual four day event is held by the Central Indiana Kennel Club and the Hoosier Kennel Club.

The event brings close to 7,000 dogs of many different breeds to the Indianapolis area.

And some of these furry friends are famous.

“A lot of these dogs that are here go to Westminster in New York, so a lot of the people will be leaving after today and driving on to New York for Westminster Monday and Tuesday,” said Kevin Allen, the event coordinator.

In addition to show judging, obedience competitions are also held.

There’s also a chance for people considering getting a dog to talk to breeders of specific breeds to find the right dog for them.

The classic started Thursday and ends Sunday.
