Downtown parking garage to get $11M in federal budget

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — President Obama’s proposed budget will set aside money to fix the parking garage at the federal building in downtown Indianapolis.

Corrosion and crumbling concrete are taking a toll on the 40-year-old parking structure.

The rest of the building was renovated in 2012.

The proposed federal budget will funnel $11 million to fix the garage.

“Repairs that are so necessary will alleviate these problems and lower maintenance costs [and] create significant savings, in addition to creating a safer GSA construction and repair projects that are focused on green energy repairs,” Congressman Andre Carson explained.

If Congress doesn’t pass the president’s budget, the money for the repairs might not make it to Indianapolis.
