Bloomington man arrested for two bank robberies in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ind. (WISH) — Police in Columbus believe they have found the man behind a pair of bank robberies.

The Columbus Police Department, along with the Bloomington Police Department, arrested 49-year-old Stephen Lee at a residence in the 3700 block of Mesa Drive in Bloomington.

Police believe Lee is behind the Main Source Bank robbery on Tuesday in Columbus, as well as the robbery of Jackson County Bank in Columbus on Nov. 2, 2015.

The arrest came about 12 hours after the Main Source robbery, where Lee is alleged to have displayed a firearm before fleeing the bank with an undisclosed amount of money.

Lee faces preliminary charges of two counts of armed robbery. He is being held in the Bartholomew County Jail.

Also assisting were the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department, Monroe County Sheriff’s Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
