Driver cited in LaPorte Co. crash that killed West Lafayette woman

LAPORTE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – A man was cited by the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office after a crash that resulted in the fatality of a West Lafayette woman.

Judith Tudor, 65, died after her car collided with another on U.S. 421 at County Road 1400 South on Feb. 11. The Porter County Coroner’s Office said the cause of Tudor’s death was blunt force trauma.

Gregory Booth, 60, also of West Lafayette, was a passenger in Tudor’s BMW at the time of the crash but was not injured.

According to a release from the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office, Tudor was struck head on by a Pontiac Grand Prix.

The driver of the Pontiac, 22-year-old Ryan Halcarz of Valparaiso, was attempting to pass in a no passing zone when he lost control of his car. He was issued a citation for passing in violation of signs or markings.

Police said alcohol was not a factor.
