IPS to give update on sale of Coca-Cola plant property

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Indianapolis Public Schools has owned the downtown property the old Coca-Cola plant sits on since the 1960s. Now, the district is selling it.

There are at least six bids on the property. IPS says it has gotten proposals from Strategic Capital Partners, Milhaus, Browning, Hendricks, and Hagemen. Strategic Capital Partners gave 24-Hour News 8 a look at it’s $220 million proposal. Click here to read the developer’s proposal.

A committee created of local real estate and business experts is looking over the proposals. IPS said the team will provide guidance to interested development teams to help ensure potential plans align with the district’s efforts to strategically improve service to the community. The districts said the highest bid will not automatically be selected.

IPS will update 24-Hour News 8 on the sale Wednesday at 5 p.m. A panel discussion at that time will include IPS Superintendent Dr. Lewis D. Ferebee, operations officer David Rosenberg, Arc Design architect and principal Andy Hine, and retired JPMorgan Chase executive Maria Quintana.
