Police chiefs get inside look at IMPD real-time data center

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The top cops in Carmel, Lawrence, Greenwood and Speedway gathered in Indianapolis Wednesday morning.

IMPD Chief Troy Riggs gave the group a tour of the department’s real-time data center.

The chiefs gathered to talk about security and get an inside look at the high-tech center.

The center has information like local arrests, police reports and computer-aided dispatch that allow the department to prevent criminal activity before it happens.

“The value to pull that data together in real time will benefit the officer in the street,” Speedway Police Department Chief James Campbell explained.

The goal is for this to be a hub of information for police departments, allowing chiefs to share data that will help stop crime or catch a suspect.
