Indy Parks Hiring for Summer Seasonal Positions

He calls it “one of the best jobs he’s ever had.” Tracy says his job as a lifeguard at the local pool growing up was what helped teach him responsibility, safety for others and more. Now, it’s your teen’s chance to do the same, with a position at Indy Parks and Recreation.

Maureen Faul, Senior Manager of Communications, Department of Parks & Recreation, says right now, they’re hiring more than 400 seasonal positions including lifeguards, pool managers, day camp counselors, therapeutic camp counselors, and cashiers to operate facilities and run summer programming. Indy Parks jobs are a great resume builder, giving experience in teamwork and customer service. Several Indy Parks employees who began as summer staff have moved up to full-time positions and chosen careers within parks and recreation.

* Free Lifeguard Training Certification Class

* Prerequisites:

– Be 16 or older

– Swim 200 yards, front crawl or breast stroke

– Tread water without hands- 1 minute

– Retrieve 10 lb. brick from 12 ft. water
