Case of mumps found at Amy Beverland Elementary School

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A case of mumps was reported in a faculty member at Amy Beverland Elementary School.

An adult student teacher was diagnosed and has been out of the building since Tuesday, according to Dana Altemeyer, the coordinator of communications, PR and marketing at MSD at Lawrence Township.

A voicemail was sent to parents Friday.

This is after three Indiana Universities reported cases of mumps earlier this week.

Symptoms of mumps include fever, headache, muscle aches, fatigue, loss of appetite, and swollen, tender salivary glands under the ears on one or both sides. Symptoms typically appear 16 to 18 days after exposure, but can range from 12 to 25 days.
