Indiana School for the Blind hosts braille challenge

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired held its annual braille challenge Saturday.

It’s the only braille reading and writing contest in the country for students.

School officials say it’s an academic competition designed to motivate students who study braille.

One-hundred-forty students from around Indiana came to Indianapolis for the contest.

Participants say they practice ahead of the big competition.

The winner will go onto the National Braille Challenge in July. It will be held in California.
