Ferris Fest to mark ‘Bueller’ anniversary

Anyone, anyone?
A festival marking the 30th anniversary of ’80s favorite “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” is scheduled for May 20-22 in and around Chicago.
The 1986 John Hughes film stars Matthew Broderick as a charming, resourceful high school student who skips school to lead his girlfriend and his reluctant best friend on a lively tour of the Windy City.
The trio hit the Art Institute of Chicago, Wrigley Field, Willis Tower (then known as Sears Tower) and more during their day of freedom.
On May 21, the movie will be screened at the John and Nancy Hughes Theater in Lake Forest, Illinois, as part of Ferris Fest.
Hosted by film critic Richard Roeper, the event will include a Q&A with Ferris’ parents, Cindy Pickett and Lyman Ward, and the French restaurant maitre d’ Jonathan Schmock.
Festival organizers are also planning a re-creation of the film’s “Twist and Shout” parade sequence and a two-part bus tour of filming locations including best friendl Cameron’s house, the Art Institute, the Glenbrook North High School parking lot, a Lake Michigan overlook, Dearborn Street and Willis Tower.
Full three-day festival tickets — which include the screening, the bus tour with admission to some attractions, T-shirt, meet-and-greets, an opening night party and access to a replica of Ferris Bueller’s bedroom — are $300.
Single-day tickets for Saturday or Sunday are $175. Admission to the Friday night opening party is $25.
