Indiana State Fire Marshal investigating massive fire

MARSHALL, Ind. (WTHI) – The Indiana State Fire Marshal is now investigating the massive fire on Friday at the Futurex Platic warehouse in Parke County.

According to 24-Hour News 8 sister station, WTHI, the Assistant Chief of the Marshall Volunteer Fire Department said that one warehouse and storage bins owned by Futurex were completely damaged in the fire.

While the Fire Marshal is at the scene today, they will be checking a home and bins located near the warehouse for heat damage.

There were no injuries reported, but many worry about the future of the employees at the factory.

“It’s a big event for a small town and everybody is concerned. They’re one of our larger employers of people in the county,” Parke County Sheriff Justin Cole said.

Cole also said, thankfully, these departments have a system when it comes to working together.

“Due to the small town of this town and several towns in the county agencies, fire agencies, are used to working with each other.”
