Police: Mother stole from non-profit to enter kids in gymnastic competitions

MADISON, Ind. (WISH) — A Seymour woman has been arrested for allegedly stealing from a non-profit organization.

Indiana State Police said 34-year-old Amanda Warner stole $2,200 from the Madison Gymnastics and Cheer Corporation while she was treasurer. ISP said she moved the money from the corporation’s account and into her possession without authorization. Investigators said she also spent $1,000 of the group’s money by entering her kids into gymnastic competitions.

ISP’s investigation began in Nov. 2015 when the group found unauthorized transactions and missing funds.

Warner was arrested Monday morning when she turned herself in to the Jefferson County Jail.

She faces a preliminary charge of one count of theft, a level six felony.
