Semi driver arrested with BAC of .218

PERU, Ind. (WISH) – A semi truck driver with a blood alcohol concentration of .218 was arrested Tuesday morning.

The driver, Lyall Hanson, was a Michigan man hauling general freight for Premier Transportation, based in Evansville.

According to the release, a 911 call reported to police that a driver was slumped over his steering wheel. He was going southbound on U.S. 31 in Miami County.

Local law enforcement found the semi and driver in a lot west of U.S. 31.

Officers found his blood alcohol level was at .218 and he had open alcohol containers in the semi’s cab.

He is facing preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and having open alcohol containers.

Hanson is currently in Miami County Jail.
