PennGrade Motor Oil honored to be presenting sponsor for Indy 500

SPEEDWAY, Ind. (WISH) – The Indianapolis 500 announced that PennGrade Motor Oil will be the first-ever presenting sponsor for the Indianapolis 500.

President of PennGrade, Gisela Miller talked with Indianapolis 500 correspondent Laura Steele about how exciting this is for the company.

(We are)”extremely excited,” said Miller. “Just the history of the 500 and IMS, we’ve had a great relationship with them over the years.”

There is even a connection with IMS President Doug Boles and Miller’s father.

“We started talking and found out that Doug Boles grandmother worked for DA (D-A Lubricant) and my father worked for IMS for 30 years,” Miller shared.

Miller believes some heritage and some history played a part in IMS picking PennGrade Motor Oil. He also says that with his family’s knowledge helped him become well-versed in the racing history.

According to a release on the company’s website, D-A LUbricant has sponsored 500 entries from 1955 until 1958 with a high finish of driver Bob Sweikert in the 1956 race. Just last year the company was a major associate sponsor of Graham Rahal’s car in the Verizon IndyCar Series.
