Day care worker found guilty of attempted production of child porn

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – An Indianapolis man was convicted Friday on several counts of production and attempted production of child pornography.

United States Attorney Josh J. Minkler said that 22-year-old Ali AL-Awadi was found guilty on seven counts of production and attempted production of child pornography.

In August 2014, Al-Awadi was arrested after a 4-year-old girl came forward and said he inappropriately touched her, causing pain. At the time Al-Awadi was working at Children’s Choice Learning Center, which is a day care on the grounds of St. Vincent Hospital.

Prosecutors say that he molested the girl while she was napping and took several photos on his cell phone.

Al-Awadi faces a minimum of 15 years to a maximum of life in prison. A sentencing date was not set as of Friday afternoon.
