Firefighter injured in northside residence fire

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A civilian and firefighter were injured during a residential fire Saturday morning.

Indianapolis Fire Department was called to the 2400 block of New Jersey Street around 12 p.m.

According to the release, when they got to the home, the resident was already out.

A 41-year-old woman lives in the residence with her 18-year-old daughter.

It was unclear what started the fire.

The 41-year-old woman was sent to the hospital with minor injuries. A firefighter was also transported to the hospital with a slight burn injury.

The family’s dog, Coco, died in the fire.
