IMPD officer injured in early morning accident

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – An IMPD officer was injured in an early morning traffic accident.

Police say an officer was stopped at a red light at the intersection of East Morris Street and South Meridian Street when he was rear ended just before 5:30 Saturday morning.

Police go on to say that 34-year-old Christina Staggs, who rear ended in the officer her GMC Yukon, displayed signs of impairment.

The officer was transported to IU Health Methodist Hospital for minor injuries and was later released.

However, Staggs was arrested on a preliminary charge of driving while intoxicated. She was then taken to Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital for injuries sustained during the crash.
