Columbus officer tases stun gun-wielding man after crash
COLUMBUS, Ind. (WISH) — A Columbus police officer said he was forced to use his taser to stop a stun gun-wielding drunk driver.
It happened around 1:15 p.m. Saturday on US 31 north near Columbus.
Police said 25-year-old Christopher May threatened people with a stun gun after crashing into the back of a vehicle.
May refused to drop the weapon and an officer shot him with a taser, police said.
Police said May also kicked an officer in the neck while at the hospital.
May faces preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, operating a vehicle without ever receiving a license, battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting law enforcement, intimidation, intimidation of a police officer and criminal recklessness.
