IU mumps cases up to 8; clinic planned for Thursday

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WISH) — The number of mumps cases at Indiana University is on the rise.

The university said in a blog post Monday that eight people have been diagnosed with the rare disease, up from two cases reported last week.

IU is offering a clinic to provide free MMR vaccinations.

The clinics are offered in cooperation with the Monroe County Health Department and the Indiana Department of Health.

The clinic is scheduled for Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

In the last three weeks, mumps cases have also been confirmed at Butler University, IUPUI and Amy Beverland Elementary School.
