Bad hop harvest threatens craft breweries

(WISH) – Craft brewers are finding that one key ingredient is in short supply.

Breweries are scrambling for hops after a bad harvest. CNBC reports a drought, along with big demand for local ingredients, has caused a shortage of supply in England.

Even in the United States, the heat and drought earlier in the year “meant mixed results for crops,” according to the U.S. Hop Growers of America.

Indiana is home to nearly 100 craft breweries, according to the Brewers of Indiana Guild.
