GREENSBURG, Ind. (WISH) — A 20-year-old woman died Monday after being hit by a vehicle near Greensburg.

According to a release from Indiana State Police, troopers first received the call around 7:15 p.m. Preliminarily, police say 94-year-old Rosemary Schroeder was driving northbound on Moscow Road approaching Veterans Way and 20-year-old Dorothy L. Whitmore was running westbound along Veterans Way when she entered the intersection into the path of Schroeder’s vehicle.

Police say the collision caused Whitmore to suffer head and other internal injuries. She was flown to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis where she later died.

Schroeder has cooperated with investigators, police said, and drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
