Body of missing man found in Sullivan County reservoir

SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — The body of a man missing since Sunday was found in a Sullivan County reservoir Wednesday.

Indiana Conservation Officers said the body of Josue Franco was discovered in Turtle Creek Reservoir.

“Franco’s body was located approximately 1/4 of a mile south from where witnesses first saw the drifting capsized boat,” a report said. “Highly skilled sonar operators used sophisticated side-scan sonar units to determine the original accident site. Sonar images of intentions left on the lake bed by the boats anchor led officer’s to locate the body.”

Officials report an autopsy is scheduled for Thursday at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.

Indiana Conservation Officer Max Winchell says two Terre Haute men were on another boat on their way in whey they noticed a boat was flipped over.

Two adults and one juvenile were rescued from the water.

Winchell says the three were taken to a hospital in Sullivan Co. with extreme conditions of hypothermia.

One of those men was airlifted to and Indianapolis hospital.

All are reported to be in stable condition.

Weather conditions hampered officials searching for Franco.
