Man who threatened to blow up courthouse is sentenced

HAMMOND, Ind. (WLFI) – A Pine Village man has been sentenced by a federal court Wednesday for threatening to blow up the Tippecanoe County Courthouse.

Samuel Bradbury, 23, was sentenced to 41 months incarceration, two years of supervised release and ordered to pay more than $7,000 in restitution.

In July 2015, Bradbury was convicted by a jury for maliciously conveying false information.

According to court documents, West Lafayette police received information Bradbury was making threats on his Facebook page, claiming to have chemical weapons and explosives.

He also claimed to know Jerad and Amanda Miller, the Lafayette couple who killed two police officers in Las Vegas.

Officers found anti-government poems in Bradbury’s home, along with materials used to make explosives.

According to evidence presented at trial, Bradbury used social media to threaten to kill two specific law enforcement officials and two specific judges in Tippecanoe County.

Bradbury told police he was exercising his freedom of speech and said the social media posts were a satirical joke.
