Very few tips coming in on Fort Wayne triple homicide
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – It’s now been a full week since officers found Mohamedtaha Omar, 23, Adam K. Mekki, 20, and Muhannad A. Tairab, 17, dead inside a home at 808 East Lewis Street. The crime has gotten attention from across the country, but all of that interest isn’t generating much help for investigators.
No arrests have been made in the case, and there are no leads at this point. Crime Stoppers Director Greg Lewis said his office isn’t getting much information at all.
“Phone calls, two, no more than that, and a couple of emails,” Lewis said. “The information has been almost minimal. It’s been some names as far as people who visited the house, but no mention that they were enemies or that they were shooters or anything like that, a few cars, but no plate numbers.”
He said he’s surprised by the lack of tips coming in given the nature and publicity of this triple homicide.
“Triple homicide with three people at the same location within minutes of each other all being shot multiple times, someone is going to come forward and say something about that, but we’ve had very little information,” Lewis said.
The tips coming into the Crime Stoppers office are far fewer than the number of calls pouring in from national media outlets. The lack of information is frustrating for Lewis.
“Whoever went over there was premeditated that they were going to kill these three guys and they did, so that to me tells me there’s somebody out there that we need to catch and we need to catch them soon,” Lewis said.
So far, there’s no motive for this crime that killed the three victims, but Lewis said somebody out there has to know what happened.
“Something was going on. I don’t have any idea what that may be, but I think as this investigation continues, there will be some things that come to light if I’m not mistaken, and I’m sure I’m not. There’s something going on here where three people are shot in the same day in the same house,” Lewis said.
Every second counts in this investigation, with the most critical time possibly already passing.

That first 48 hours has come and gone, but Lewis said his office is committed to helping solve this crime no matter how long it takes.
“We desperately want to solve this. We can’t allow this to go on in our community. If someone has the information, we’re willing not only to keep you anonymous, we’re willing to pay you. So, think about that, and if you’ve got some information, no matter how small it may be to you, call me and let me sort out how important it is,” Lewis said. “Crime Stoppers has never solved a crime since I’ve been here, but we’ve helped solve a lot of crimes. The investigators, the active duty police officers that are out there on the streets, that are sworn to uphold the law and make arrests, they’re the ones that solve the crimes. We’re just trying to help, that’s all we are.”
Since this case started, police have urged anyone with information to come forward. That request continues, with Crime Stoppers offering a $1,000 reward for any tip that helps lead to an arrest.
“It’s been seven days, and there’s been very little coming into Crime Stoppers. We are more than willing to pay a $1,000 for this information for an arrest, but that $1,000 is out there, but I’ve got to have some information to flow to me to give to investigators to make the arrest,” Lewis said. “What I like to do is I like to see a crime like this come to a close and end in a hurry. Get the information, make the arrests, get this person in the courtroom.”
