Islamic community to offer reward for information on triple homicide
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — The Islamic Community of Greater Fort Wayne is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest of those behind the “execution-style” fatal shootings of two men and a teenager inside an East Lewis Street home last week.
The organization has scheduled a press conference to announce the reward on Friday at 1:30 p.m. at its Chute Street headquarters.
It will also appeal to city officials not to allow the investigation to become a “cold case,” the organization said.
“Islamic Community of Greater Fort Wayne wants to have the city safe from terror for every human being,” the organization said in a statement Thursday.
According to Islamic teachings life is sacred. If you take the life of one innocent person it is as though you have taken the life of all mankind. And if you save the life of one innocent person it is as though you have saved the life of the all humanity.”
A full week after officers found Mohamedtaha Omar, 23, Adam K. Mekki, 20, and Muhannad A. Tairab, 17, dead inside a home at 808 E. Lewis St., Fort Wayne police have made no arrests and have no leads in the case. Police also have no motive, although they have said the shootings were not a ‘hate crime.’
Omar, Mekki and Tairab were not known to be associated with any gang activity, according to police, but detectives have not their deaths being gang-related.
Police Chief Garry Hamilton has said the white, two-story house the two men and teenager were found dead in was a “party house.” The three did not live at the home.
