Firefighters responding to house fire hear ammunition going off inside

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Indianapolis Fire Department firefighters responded to a house fire on the city’s north side on Friday.

According to IFD, the fire started at a home in the 900 block of Eugene Street around 5:40 a.m.

IFD said that when they arrived they reported hearing ammunition going off, due to the heat inside the residence. The home was unoccupied and there were no working smoke alarms.

No injuries were reported. The damage was estimated at $35,000.
