Lamb corpse found near Lafayette home

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – A Lafayette man found an animal corpse not far from his home Friday.

Troy Ricketts called Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office Friday night to report a sheep corpse near his home.

The sheep was found on Eisenhower Court near Peters Mill Landing.

Sgt. Patrol Jon Lendermon said the sheep was likely wandering and got hit by a car.

Ricketts said this is not the first animal corpse found in the area.

In the past he has found a dead iguana, deer corpses and the remains of other animals.

But Lendermon said this is the first dead animal report in the last 60 days.

“This case has been turned over to animal control so they can look into it,” Lendermon said. “But there doesn’t appear to be any foul play or any abuse to the animal, it just appears to be a stray that got hit by a vehicle.”

Neighbors in the area said this is the first animal corpse they have seen. They said many stray animals are dropped off and abandoned in the area.
