Giant leprechaun stolen from backyard in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – A giant leprechaun has gone missing, and its owners would like him back.

Lucky, the 6 foot 5 inch leprechaun was stolen out of Marie Bryan’s backyard near downtown Colorado Springs Friday night.

“The only thing we can think of, it was maybe lifted up over the top of the fence and maybe somebody had a truck to haul it off with. As you can see it’s not something you can easily walk down the street with,” said Bryan.

Bryan is hoping whoever took Lucky will bring him back as he was supposed to appear in the St. Patrick’s Day parade this Saturday as part of the Independent Center’s float.

The Independent Center is a local nonprofit who empowers people with disabilities. Bryan was storing Lucky and another giant leprechaun in her yard because the center didn’t have room for them at its facility.

“Everybody is completely baffled as to why anybody would want to steal that. I’m sure probably the person who took it didn’t realize what it was used for, as far as it being in the St. Patrick’s Day parade and that it actually belonged to an organization,” said Bryan.

It took over a month to build Lucky with the help of the Springs Rescue Mission and Bryan said he’s a one of a kind piece that has a lot of sentimental value too.

“The only thing we would ask, if anyone sees this or you’re the one who took it, or you maybe know where it’s at, just bring it back in one piece. It can be brought to the Independent Center, you can even bring it and put it back over my fence. We just want him back.”
