Howard County man arrested for rape

HOWARD COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — A 32-year-old Howard County man was arrested for rape Monday.

Michael Allen Liali of Windfall faces preliminary charges of rape, attempted criminal confinement and sex offense aggravate battery.

A 26-year-old woman told authorities Liali raped her on Oct. 1, 2015, according to the Howard County Sheriff’s Department.

The sheriff’s department said Liali was a frequent customer at a convenience store where the woman worked. On the morning of Oct. 1, Liali told her to meet him in a Wal-Mart parking lot, according to the sheriff’s department.

When she arrived, Liali told her to get in his vehicle to talk, the sheriff’s department said. Liali drove to a corn field just north of State Road 22 on County Road 300 East and raped her, according to the sheriff’s department.

The woman later returned to her vehicle and called 911.
