IMPD Deputy Chief of Investigations retires

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – After 30 years, William Lorah is stepping down as Deputy Chief of Investigations and Major David Robinson will be taking his place.

“I want to thank Deputy Chief Lorah for his leadership over the past few years,” Chief Troy Riggs said. “I have come to rely upon Bill for his expertise and wisdom, and I wish him the best of luck in his new career.”

According to the release, candidates were turned were interviewed by a community panel, then the panel recommended a candidate to Chief Riggs for consideration.

Major David Robinson is currently in charge of the Professional Standards Bureau and will start his new position on March 18.

“Major Robinson has been instrumental in ensuring investigations, both internal and criminal complaints, against IMPD officers are completed in a fair and timely manner,” Chief Riggs said. “Major Robinson recently implemented new software to track complaints against officers and data on use of force incidents involving IMPD. His technical and investigative background will prove successful in our data-driven initiatives within the Investigations Division.”
